Dario Franchitti has dedicated his second IndyCar title win to Greg Moore, who lost his life during a Champ Car race at the California Speedway a decade ago. Scotland's Franchitti out-smarted rivals Scott Dixon and Ryan Briscoe to make one less pit-stop on his run to victory in the race and the championship at Homestead on Saturday.

Having beaten Briscoe to the Miami win by just under five seconds with team-mate Dixon third, Homestead 2009 will forever be remembered as the day Dario Franchitti collected a second IndyCar crown as well as the first race in the championship's history to see no yellow flag caution periods.
Other thoughts were in Franchitti's mind after crossing the line, however, as the 36-year-old-explained. "No, I can't, I can't!" he said after being asked if he could believe the outcome of the dramatic race. "Like 2007, I just had to try to save some fuel and stay on strategy and it just worked out.

"The Target car wasn't great early in that first stint - Chris (Simmons, crew chief) and the boys made some changes. From the second stint on, we were right there but we had lost so much ground. We were saving fuel, sticking to our strategy and the car was really good at the end. A win is a win.
"On the cool-down lap, I was thinking of my buddy Greg. I was in a championship fight ten years ago but it didn't matter because we lost him - this one's for him; it's been a hell of a year for the Target boys. I've got to thank Chip (Ganassi, team owner) for giving me a job."
