Special tyre for Japanese race

Special tyre for Japanese race

17 September 2009

Tyre manufacture Firestone has developed a new type of compound ahead of this weekend's penultimate round of the season in Japan. The rubber used for the race at the Motegi Twin Ring features a blend of different types used earlier in the year.

With the uniqueness of the Motegi track and surface, Firestone has revealed that the tyres used over the course of the weekend will be a mixture of those seen on Superspeedway venues (such as Texas, Kansas or Chicagoland) but incorporating the grid required on a track such as Indianapolis.

Also, Honda has announced that the overtake boost button will be set to enable 20 uses through the race for a duration of 15 seconds each time with a recharge interval of 10 seconds.
