Ryan Briscoe is confident that the Penske team can retain its points lead and confirm the 2009 title in Miami in October. The Australian took a dramatic victory in Chicago on Saturday night and believes that the title can be his providing both he and the team refrain from making costly errors.
As proved at the Chicagoland Speedway, mistakes such as losing time in traffic and pit-stop blunders can win or lose a championship for either of the leading teams although Briscoe was able to hold on for the win by just seven thousandths of a second from reigning Champion Scott Dixon.

"We've got to stay focused," Briscoe confirmed after winning at the weekend. "The Target cars are going to be there in Motegi and Homestead so we just have to stay focused. We've had good cars on all the mile-and-half ovals this year, we've just got to keep it together. We had a couple of mistakes tonight but were able to come back. We just have to try to avoid those situations."
The penultimate chapter in the campaign will arrive at Motegi in three weekends' time before the final race in Miami on 10 October.
