IndyCar Series organisers, the Indy Racing League (IRL), has released the race calendar ahead of the 2010 season. The biggest addition is that of a brand-new event kicking off the championship in Brazil on the second weekend of March with the seventeen-race campaign climaxing at Homestead in mid-September.
With over half of the 2009 season already completed, IRL announced that the 2010 series will begin on a custom-built track for IndyCars. St. Petersburg, season-opener of 2009, will be hosting the second race of 2010 and the first of the year in the United States. The following race will be the second new venue on the calendar, held at the Berber Motorsport Park in Alabama.
Texas' race will again be held at night and, with the suggestion having been brought up after recent races, the two Canadian rounds are now back-to-back on the 18 and 25 July. Kentucky's round has been shifted to the final trio of the season, with the last chequered flag again falling in Homestead, as it will be this year.
