Penske dominate Edmonton qualifying

The seemingly unstoppable Will Power has led a crushing Penske 1-2-3 in qualifying at Edmonton. Power, competing in his fourth race of the season this weekend, will start at the front alongside team-mate Ryan Briscoe with Helio Castroneves joined by reigning Champion Scott Dixon on Row 2. Championship leader Dario Franchitti will line up sixth on Sunday.

As Penske continued their incredible run of success, which started in practice on Friday and now includes an all-Australian front row, Dixon is best of the rest in the Target Chip Ganassi car; Power's benchmark time of 1.01.013 was the fastest of the weekend so far by half a second. Just ahead of Franchitti and rounding out the top five is leading American Graham Rahal.

KV Racing continued its productive weekend with seventh and ninth places for Mario Moraes and Paul Tracy - who is the leading Canadian at home despite missing out on a top three place due to two mistakes - with Raphael Matos' Luczo Dragon car slotting between them in eighth spot. The second NHL car of Robert Doornbos completes the top ten and brings a seventh nationality into the first five rows of the starting grid.

The Andretti Green team suffered another poor performance with Hideki Mutoh's 12th place a best result; behind him is team-mate Tony Kanaan with Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick down in 18th and 20th in the squad's other two cars.

Second Canadian, Alex Tagliani, was 17th for Conquest with remaining British drivers Mike Conway, Justin Wilson and Dan Wheldon 11th, 15th and 22nd in what were disappointing results for the latter two men, although the 2005 Champion remains sore after a sizeable crash on Friday.
