Robert Doornbos was pleased to have finished in the top ten at Richmond as the Dutch newcomer for 2009 took his NHL car to ninth place in Sunday's night race. After qualifying twelfth, the rookie made a rise of three places, helped by retirements in front of him.

"That was very hard work for P9," 27-year-old Robert said after the race. "It reminds me of my F1 days, when you had to work really hard to get up there. I'm very happy with the experience, it was very good for us to come home like this. All of my team did a great job in setting up the car and it was really good to drive."
Despite the positively drawn from the night race, the squad also suffered from a number of frustrations during the race. "Unfortunately, we got unlucky with the yellow twice," Doornbos began to explain. "I think we had the pace, especially with new tyres; I was pushing really hard and really enjoyed that - for me, it was like driving like in qualifying for 300 laps. With a bit more luck with the yellows, we would have been higher but I'm happy with a good solid race. This will make me stronger on ovals but I have to be honest and say that I look forward to the road courses."
