Although all eyes were on the battle for the lead at the Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday, only sixty-nine thousandths of a second behind the race winner was the KV Racing car of Mario Moraes as the Brazilian picked up an impressive podium finish for the squad.
Having come from eighth at the start, a mixture of passing and benefitting from the mishaps of others all came together for the 20-year-old. "It's amazing," he said after a race which concluded with the top thirteen cars separated by less than nine tenths of a second.
"The team did a great job in the pits; our mechanics did a great job and we had really great pit-stops. The team has been working really hard for this all season and I'm really pleased with a third place finish." Moraes currently lies 16th in the championship table.
